FAQ
Could you provide more information on the viewing angle offered for both the Full Color CMOS Sensor Camera and the Thermal Camera?
The Boateye360 camera is configured with a horizontal FOV of 42 degrees, a vertical FOV of 24 degrees, and a diagonal FOV of 48 degrees. From our extensive testing, we’ve found that these angles strike the ideal balance for most marine applications. This configuration offers a broad enough view to monitor surroundings effectively while preserving the crucial details you need to see in the distance. Going wider in the FOV may give more peripheral vision, but it often comes at the cost of losing detail further away, which can affect reaction time when identifying hazards in low-light conditions.
The Thermal Camera offers a viewing angle of 38 degrees (50 degrees available)
Which camera would be more suitable for my requirements: the Full Color CMOS Sensor Camera or the Thermal Camera?
The Full Color CMOS Sensor Camera is tailored for low-light environments, making it ideal for both inshore and offshore navigation scenarios where there's some ambient light available, be it from the moon, stars, or other sources. Its advanced design ensures that even in dimly lit conditions, it produces imagery that's remarkably clear, akin to daylight.
Now, if you're navigating offshore waters, especially in complete darkness (Cloudy skys and no moon), the Thermal Camera is your go-to solution. Specifically crafted for such situations, it excels in aiding search and rescue missions. Plus, it's engineered to perform exceptionally well even when faced with challenging conditions like fog and rain.

Are your cameras capable of detecting crab traps?
Yes, both our cameras are capable of detecting crab traps. Potential detection challenges may only arise in the rare instance when the water temperature aligns with that of the crab trap. The performance of the full-color CMOS sensor camera may only be compromised in conditions of complete absence of moon or starlight
Are your cameras capable of working in foggy conditions?
Our thermal cameras operate using heat signatures, ensuring effectiveness regardless of environmental conditions such as day, night, or rain. They particularly excel in foggy conditions.
Is it possible to mount the camera upside down?
Certainly! Simply loosen the screws and rotate the camera to your desired orientation. It's a hassle-free process designed for your convenience. If you have any other questions or need assistance, feel free to contact us. We're always here to help.
